North Coast Naturals Certified Organic Brown Rice Protein Powder

Organic Brown Rice Protein

Our Certified Organic brown rice protein is another animal-free, vegan, plant source of protein!

Our rice protein is cold pressed to preserve maximum freshness, and no chemicals (such as hexane, which is commonly used to make regular rice proteins) are used to make our Certified Organic rice protein.

Hypoallergenic

Rice is considered by most nutritionists as being the least allergenic of all the proteins. If soy or milk upset your stomach, you are likely deficient in protein, and rice protein is likely the best route for those with allergies to soy or milk.

Rice protein is best mixed with juice to add some flavour, as rice protein by itself is quite bland. Try adding strawberries and apple juice in a blender and adding 1 – 2 tablespoons of our organic rice protein powder!

Organic Brown Rice powder is hypo-allergenic

Yes, North Coast Naturals Organic Brown Rice Protein is considered to be a raw food as defined by being handled or processed at temperatures not exceeding 104-115 degrees Fahrenheit.

  2. How does yours mix?

It shakes up pretty good! We mill our rice to a finer particle size (3-8 times finer than normal rice protein) so that it mixes better.

  3. What's the best way to store North Coast Naturals Organic Brown Rice Protein?

Our bags are resealable to help keep your North Coast Naturals Organic Brown Rice Protein fresh. Store the bag in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight for best results. 4. Is North Coast Naturals Organic Brown Rice Protein GMO-free?

Yes. To be certified organic, a product must also already be non-GMO. So yes, as our brown rice protein is certified organic (look on the label for the Organic logo and the certifying company's name — in our case, we use a company named PACS), it is already non-GMO.

  5. Once opened, how long can North Coast Naturals Organic Brown Rice Protein be kept for?

  6. Is North Coast Naturals Organic Brown Rice Protein safe for children?

It's food. What any of us feeds our children is our own individual choice, and we know of no reasonable reasons why North Coast Naturals Organic Brown Rice Protein would not normally be considered as just another food choice. North Coast Naturals Organic Brown Rice Protein offers a wide range of nutritional benefits for all ages. It's naturally free from many common allergens, making it suitable for almost any user.

  7. Is North Coast Naturals Organic Brown Rice Protein gluten-free?

Our Organic Brown Rice Protein naturally does not contain gluten and is considered to be a gluten-free product. It is, however, manufactured in our facility where we also handle ingredients from milk, soy, wheat, peanuts, egg and seeds. While we adhere to strict manufacturing practices to best prevent cross-contamination, we would like to make this apparent for those with severe allergies.

  8. Does North Coast Naturals Organic Brown Rice Protein have any flavour?

North Coast Naturals Organic Brown Rice Protein by itself is actually quite bland so it's best enjoyed in a fruit smoothie or mixed with your favourite juice. It's also delicious mixed with chocolate almond or soy milk! In addition to mixing it into drinks, it can be used to boost the protein and nutrition in baking, oatmeal and other recipes.

  10. Is North Coast Naturals Organic Brown Rice Protein allergen-friendly?

Some individuals simply cannot tolerate milk or soy proteins due to allergies. If you can handle rice, you should be able to handle rice protein. North Coast Naturals Organic Brown Rice Protein makes an excellent alternative as it's considered to be the least allergenic of all the proteins. Our Organic Brown Rice Protein is free of any artificial colours, sweeteners, flavours or fillers, which can also cause allergic reactions in some individuals.

  11. Where is North Coast Naturals Organic Brown Rice Protein sourced?

Our rice is processed in California. Its origin can be Argentina, Thailand, China and USA (the little rice that is grown in Canada has yet to be filtered through this special isolation process in California). We find that the country of origin is not an indicator of quality; testable quality and safety parameters are the actual indicators. We use only those ingredients that test well for quality AND safety.

We adhere to other safety standards and we routinely test our products to ensure they are considered safe. We routinely test for such potentially life-threatening safety indicators as:
    • Yeast and Mold
    • Bacillus cereus
    • E coli
    • Lysteria monocytogenes
    • Clostridia spp.
    • Salmonella

  12. Do you screen for heavy metals?

Yes. All products grown and harvested from soil contain "trace elements" which are minerals. Some minerals are considered good (eg: calcium, magnesium, zinc, potassium), and others are considered not good (eg: arsenic, lead) when their intake exceeds safe levels. Those like arsenic and lead are collectively called "heavy metals".

Health Canada has strict limits on heavy metals in food, as they are present in virtually everything grown (eg: vegetables, fruits, grains). The following tolerable upper limits on heavy metals are set by Health Canada — our products, when consumed in the prescribed amounts as per package label, must not and do not exceed these limits:
    • Arsenic – 0.14 mcg./kg b.w./day
    • Cadmium – 0.09 mcg./kg.b.w./day
    • Lead – 0.29 mcg./kg b.w./day
    • Mercury – 0.29 mcg. /kg b.w./day
(reads as X micrograms per kg of bodyweight, per day)

North Coast Naturals products including our Organic Brown Rice Protein meet those safety requirements. Our rice protein is Prop 65 compliant too (a California law requiring products be of low heavy metal content).

  13. What makes your rice protein different?

Ours is the only organic, low heat processed protein source from brown rice, enzymatically extracted from multiple layers of the whole grain (versus the more typical rice protein which is hexane-extracted from only the bran layer; plus hexane is a carcinogen). Organic, hexane-free, non-GMO, Prop 65 compliant (low in heavy metals), whole grain brown rice protein powder sums it up pretty good we think. We are consumers too after all.
